Dog Cookies Recipe: Peanut Butter Blast!
Dog cookies can be made with a bone mold tray, bone cookie cutters, or just a tin lid to craft these cookies that will make your home smell like the holiday’s. Even though the holidays are over, that doesn’t mean your dog doesn’t deserve year-round delicious treats.
- 258 grams of peanut butter
- 2 large eggs
- 300 grams of whole wheat flour
- 187.5 grams of water
- 60 grams of peanut butter
- 10 mL of coconut oil
- Preheat oven to 176°C and line a pan with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, add in the peanut butter and eggs. Beat with a hand mixer until combined.
- Add in the whole wheat flour and water and beat until the dough forms a ball.
- Dust your work surface with whole wheat flour.
- Roll the dough out to desired thickness and cut out with your cookie cutter.
- Press holes into the cookie using a fork or a skewer.
- Bake for 18 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. This will depend on the size of your cookie cutter.
- You can store these in an airtight container.
The cookies freeze well after being baked and will last up to 3 months in the freezer.
Hard Dog Biscuit Recipe: A Classic with a Crunch!
With Spring rolling in quicker than a Winter storm, you’ll be able to use fresh produce for this dog recipe! Containing ginger and squash, this cookie recipe will be the only thing you need to squash your doggos' former winter-blues.
- 300 g oat flour or brown rice flour or whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 large eggs
- 70 g squash cooked and pureed; butternut, pumpkin or other kind
- 2 tablespoons blackstrap molasses (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 176°C.
- Combine flour, turmeric, and ginger in a bowl and whisk.
- Add eggs, squash, and molasses to the bowl and blend the mixture until it forms a ball of dough. You can also use a spatula, food processor, or your hands.
- Separate the dough into two balls. Place one ball of dough on a non-stick baking mat, piece of parchment paper or counter-top with some flour sprinkled over it to prevent sticking.
- Place a piece of parchment paper or other non-stick paper or mat over the ball of dough. Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough until it is about .75 cm thick.
- Use a cookie cutter to cut shapes out and place them on baking or cookie sheets. The cookies don't spread so no need to spread them out much across the baking sheets. Repeat until all the dough has been cut.
- Bake the dough for 15 minutes, and then turn each biscuit over and bake for another 15 minutes.
Grain-Free Black Bean Dog Cookies
Is your dog beanin' crazy? Keep your pooch energized with a protein-packed dog cookie that will fuel their bodies through the whole day .
- 236.59 ml black beans cooked, rinsed and drained
- 59.15 ml peanut butter natural
- 1/2 banana very ripe, mashed
- 1 egg whipped (see tip below for dogs with allergies to chicken products)
- Add cooked black beans to a food processor or use a fork and mash well. Combine mashed beans with peanut butter, banana, and whipped egg. Stir until smooth and well combined.
- Cover and refrigerate until slightly thickened, approximately 1 hour. Preheat oven to 176°C. Drop by rounded teaspoon onto a parchment-lined pan.
- Makes approximately 30 to 34 small biscuits. After 15 minutes remove the pan and use the back of a spoon or a fork to flatten. Bake another 10 minutes then flip biscuits over. Continue baking for 15 to 20 minutes. Total baking time is 40 to 45 minutes. Allow to cool completely before serving or storing in an airtight container.
Tip: For dogs with allergies to chicken products, substitute 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce for one egg.
Make Ahead: There is no flour used in this recipe and biscuits are like soft baked cookies.
