These homemade snacks are crafted from dog-friendly ingredients, making them a perfect way to treat your pup this spooky season.

Pumpkin Peanut Butter Ghost Bites

Nothing screams Halloween like pumpkins, and the good news is that pumpkin is a nutritious treat for dogs. It’s rich in fibre and beta-carotene, which supports digestive health. Combine it with peanut butter for a tasty combo that dogs love.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin (unsweetened)
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter (make sure it's xylitol-free)
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

    Icing

  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt (Greek yogurt is a good option as it's thicker)
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Honey
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a bowl until well combined.
  3. Roll the dough into small balls or use a ghost-shaped cookie cutter.
  4. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
Icing
  1. Mix the yogurt and corn-starch together in a bowl until smooth. The corn-starch helps to thicken the mixture and gives it a firmer texture.
  2. Add honey if you’d like a little natural sweetness and mix thoroughly.
  3. Adjust the consistency by adding a few drops of water if the icing is too thick, or more cornstarch if it's too thin.
  4. Apply the icing to the cooled dog biscuits using a spoon, piping bag, or simply dip the biscuits. Allow the icing to set by letting the biscuits air-dry or refrigerating them for a firmer texture.
