You won’t believe how happy your pup will be when you open your next Petzyo delivery and show your furend their new collar.

The Importance of a High-Quality Dog Collar

Your dog’s collar, along with the lead, provides you with a way to safely maintain control of your furry friend. A collar-and-leash combo restricts the movement of your dog when compared to a harness, and they are also more comfortable for many doggos.

Your dog’s collar has a tough job to do: A collar functions as a safe way to walk your dog, a fashionable dog necklace, and the designated place to display your dog’s name tag.

Why invest in a quality collar? A quality dog collar will stay attached to ensure your dog is secure on your walks and stays in place throughout the day. The last thing you want is for your dog to back out of their collar or for the buckle to break and lose track of your beloved fur-buddy. Because your dog’s ID tag is the first way to ensure your dog’s safe return should they get loose, you want to be sure it’s attached to a collar as strong as your love for your dog.

Quality collars are also more comfortable for doggos. Dogs have sensitive necks, so a poorly constructed collar can irritate the skin and cause pain.

Better and safer for your dog

While some people think that dogs don’t like their collars, if fitted properly and taken off at night, most dogs don’t mind them at all. And consider the alternative–your forever friend running off after some animal and getting lost. That ID on the collar is one of the most effective ways of getting your doggo back.

And try taking your dog for a walk without a collar or a harness to connect the lead to? Just a little distraction and your dog could be out in traffic. While a collar might infringe on their freedom, it will go a long way to keeping your furry friend safe.

Why Should You Choose a Petzyo Dog & Puppy Collar?

Petzyo sells high-quality Australian made dog collars. They are easy to adjust to the size of your doggo’s neck and are made of quality materials that are strong, long-lasting, comfy for your dog, and made with sustainability in mind.

And don’t forget the wide variety of styles–you can find one that matches your dog’s personality, and if you want, pick up a few so you have one that fits each of your dog’s many moods. Having an extra collar can also come in handy should your doggo take a dip in the lake or play in puddles.

From puppy to adult

Petzyo provides attractive and well-made collars for each stage of your dog’s life. Our Australian-made collars will help to keep you in control of your dog and are perfect for carrying identification tags that will help bring your doggo back to you if they should get lost. We’ve selected the top-of-the-line collars that reflect Petzyo’s mission of making the world a better place for pets and their pawrents.

What is the Ideal Dog Collar for Your Petzyo Pup?

There are three basic types of collars:

  • Flat collars are the most common and work well with dogs that are good on the lead.

  • Martingale collars tighten as tension is put on the lead and work well for dogs that tend to slip out of their collars.

  • Rolled collars won’t flatten your dog's fur but will still do a great job displaying their tag and ID.

Before checking out, be sure the collar you select will fit your pup. Of course, it’s clear to see that our selection of cute dog collars and stylish dog collars will fit your pup’s personality, but ensuring a proper fit around your dog’s neck will help keep your dog safe.

Make sure that the collar fits your dog

To measure your dog’s neck, use a tape measure and measure the length about 6 to 9 centimetres below their head. The tape doesn’t need to be pulled completely taut since you will want to fit two fingers under the collar once it is fitted in person. You will notice that each collar comes in a size range to ensure it can be customized for a snug and comfortable fit.

As for materials and quality, we only offer the finest dog collars that are made to last. From the Fuzzyard neoprene collars, designed to provide your pup with extra padding for a more comfortable fit, to Rufus & Coco collars made from quick-drying nylon with strong, premium buckles.

Choosing the right collar for your dog

Puppy Collars

Puppies should start wearing their collars early in life. When your pup is about 2 months old, start putting the collar on for short periods of time, and slowly leave the collar on for longer periods to help your furball adjust to the feeling.

A puppy’s collar should be light and flexible, and when on your puppy, you should be able to easily slide one finger between the collar and the puppy’s neck.

Dog Training Collars

There are two main kinds of “training” collars, shock and prong collars. Shock collars administer a mild shock when a button on the remote is depressed, and a prong collar has prongs that apply pressure to your dog's neck when they tug on the lead. Used incorrectly, both can harm your dog. So they should be used carefully and only when other options have not worked and with the assistance of a dog trainer.

Custom Dog Collars

Some companies make collars that you can have contact information printed right on them. This can make it easy for anyone that finds your dog to get them back into your loving home. However, ordering an ID tag to attach to your dog’s collar, even if it isn’t customised, is a must for your pup’s pawtection.
